Our Mission: Empowered by the Holy Spirit Kailua Christian Church strives to be a loving and nurturing family of faith committed to a growing relationship with God, one another, and the world through teaching, service and witness as embodied by Jesus Christ.
Kailua Christian Church currently hosts three main community nurture ministries:
- King’s Company (Keiki Church): Children are a meaningful part of worship at Kailua Christian Church. On the 2nd–5th Sundays, children are dismissed about 10–15 minutes into the service to King’s Company, our upstairs children’s program. On the 1st Sunday of the month, we celebrate Communion together, and children remain in the sanctuary with their families.
- Kids are encouraged to participate in the opening portion of worship by helping with music, scripture, or lighting candles, so they feel fully included in congregational life. We offer a play area in the back of the sanctuary, as well as a nearby break room with a live-streamed service, fidget toys, and space for nursing parents. Deacons and a Children’s Coordinator are present to support families as needed.
- King’s Company uses the Orange curriculum, focusing on monthly themes like patience, belonging, and compassion through Bible stories and hands-on activities. As a small, relational church, our children’s ministry is designed to help kids build meaningful connections with one another and with the wider church community.
- Kupuna Bible Study: We provide a Bible Study for our kupuna and others who wish to join us at the Plaza Kaneohe on Thursday mornings.
- Spiritual Discussion Small Groups: On the 2nd-5th Sundays of the month, we offer a (non-mandatory!) small groups spiritual discussion after the sermon. On the 1st Sunday of the month, there is no spiritual discussion during worship, but we do share a potluck after! Bring a dish to share or simply come as you are and enjoy.
Kailua Christian Church currently hosts several outreach ministries:
- We offer Na Anela, a bi-monthly Health & Wellness Educational Program. This program was borne from a cancer support group in the early 2000s that continues to meet and provide educational care for the community.
- We offer a Volunteer Chaplaincy Team in coordination with our partners at The Institute for Human Services (IHS), Hawaii’s largest and oldest homeless services center. We engage with the least of these brothers and sisters (Mt 25:40) because Jesus calls us to uplift the captive and poor in spirit, and we have a longstanding history of support to IHS.
- We offer a Pastoral Development Service Learning Program for Bible, Theology, and Divinity students aged 20-25. KCC has a long history of nurturing young people into the calling that God has for them, including financially and spiritually supporting at least 10 pastors through their seminary experiences. This is a legacy of our church that we continue until today.
- We offer a FREE Keiki Summer Drama Camp for children aged 6-12 to learn stage performance skills, Collaborate on creating sets, costumes, and characters, and explore plays that have meaninful spiritual themes. In Summer 2025, we will be producing and performing, “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe” by Christian author C.S. Lewis.
